Eyer Wideman Youth Centre & Ropes Challenge Course’s facility provides a premier Ontario experience for children and youth in the areas of outdoor education and recreation. It is home to three vital programs: Teen Challenge – an experiential program through which Toronto Police Officers mentor at-risk urban teens; A Ropes Challenge Course for corporate and individual retreats; and, Outward Bound Canada (OBC), where young people with physical or learning disabilities can participate fully in various expeditions.

The adventure-based activities accommodate a variety of individual and group interests and needs. All adventure programs allow youth to become involved in outdoor adventure and recreation by participating in adventure courses: A Ropes Challenge Course, an Aerial Adventure Park – with over 25 elements such as zip lines, swinging logs, hanging ropes and bridges; self-guided overnight canoeing; rock climbing; hiking; cross country skiing and camping.

Teen Challenge is designed for urban teens ages 13 to 17 who are at risk of becoming involved in crime or anti-social behaviour. The program provides intensive experiential learning opportunities that instil positive values through the reinforcement of basic concepts such as teamwork, communication skills, goal setting, adventure education, adventure recreation and adventure therapy.

The Outward Bound Canada (OBC) programs are open to school-aged children who have physical or learning disabilities. OBC programs are educational adventure activities that allow young people to develop their potential both physically and emotionally in a supportive outdoor environment. Participants learn by being active through adventure-based education where they connect with nature, develop self-confidence, make new friends, build life skills and create memories while “learning by doing”. The expeditions are led by Outdoor Leaders certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides.

A Ropes Challenge Course is an adventure program designed for individual team-building retreats or conferences, birthday parties or day camps for kids ages 7 to 14 years old. It offers youth participants of all interests and abilities the opportunity to become involved in adventure recreation, adventure education through adventure programming.
