Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada-Toronto

Are you ready for something big, watery, and filled with fish? They number somewhere around 20,000, which includes invertebrates and two green sea turtles. And no, it’s not Lake Ontario. All these diverse sea creatures are present in Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, where they can be found in tranquil settings surrounded by huge ponds and watery habitats.

Nine galleries on saltwater and freshwater environments house aquatic specimens from all over the world. There are even sharks in this museum! There are 2.9 million litres of saltwater in the Dangerous Lagoon (where sharks rule). This beautiful and colourful exhibit with over 100 different kinds of tropical fish is the most diverse exhibit in the aquarium.

Canada’s beautiful landscapes and abundant wildlife have made it a popular tourist destination, but its waterways offer even more unusual habitats and species.

You’ll experience freshwater wilderness, fisheries, and kelp forests as you explore the Canadian Waters gallery. Experience the world’s most biodiverse ecosystem – the Great Lakes contain 20 percent of the world’s fresh water and play an essential role in Canada’s freshwater habitat. There is no wonder that there are so many flora and fauna in our marine habitats with three oceans to choose from.

Coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific Ocean are beautifully recreated in Rainbow Reef. In this humid habitat, you can view a kaleidoscope of fish, and learn about their endangered habitats and precious environments. The coral reef is sometimes called a rainforest of the sea because it contains a diversity of organisms rarely seen anywhere else. Coral reefs have the ability to create thousands of micro-habitats and are often home to animals with exceptional adaptations to their environments.

People just can’t get enough of it. Is there anyone who doesn’t enjoy petting string rays and taking selfies in front of a giant wall of glowing jellyfish? After opening its doors to the public just four years ago, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada surpassed 10 million visitors this summer.

Located in Toronto’s downtown area, close to the most iconic attractions, tourists and locals flock to the aquarium from day one to view and be seen with its exotic and photogenic marine life. The building serves as an important landmark in Toronto for both tourists and businesses alike. On social media, this Toronto venue has garnered a lot of attention for corporate events, galas, fundraisers, holiday parties, meetings, and other celebrations.
